Lockington's Everyday Fiji ... Life Goes On

          Give the Farmers a Chance

Would the Ministry of Agriculture give the job of growing potatoes to farmers who have been successful with their farm? Especially farmers who have come out of poverty and turned their lives around and been successful and become rich without letting everybody know. These are the kinds of people we need to boost agriculture.

Countries all over the world will have people who can turn dying industry around. lets look around our own Fiji for these people, people who said, "Never say die."
We have many of them who live in obscurity but employ hundreds of people and are humble enough not to advertise. I can say more but I will end here.

                                                             Camp Inspection

I commend the Health inspectors in Seqaqa and Labasa for the initiative to inspect sugarcane farm camps. There will be many issues regarding this and I hope the same could be also done for the Western Division. Having travelled around the cane belt in the west, I have seen many camps that could be improved upon. Men leave their homes in the East and travel to the West to earn some money, and sadly they are forced to live in squalid conditions.
